Yard grading, retaining walls, slope correction, stump removal, and lawn prep for homeowners across Hampshire and Hampden counties. We reshape the land. Your landscaper handles the plantings.
What we do
Landscape construction is the work that happens before the landscaper shows up. Grading the yard so it drains away from the house. Removing the stumps left from a tree job. Building the retaining wall that holds the slope back. Bringing in loam and rough grading before seed goes down.
RJL does this excavation and earthwork phase. We have the machines for it and Jake knows how to grade a yard so water goes where it's supposed to go. Good landscaping starts with ground that's shaped correctly. We handle that part.
Our process
We walk your yard, understand what you're trying to accomplish, and talk through what needs to happen in what order. If you have a landscaper, we coordinate with them on the grading tolerance they need before they plant.
We remove stumps, clear debris, and strip any material that doesn't belong in the finished grade. This is not glamorous work but it has to happen before anything else. We do it clean and haul off what we take out.
We move material into the grade you need, build any retaining walls or berms required, and establish the drainage pattern that will keep the yard dry. We set up the subgrade your loam will sit on top of.
We bring in loam or topsoil where needed, spread it to finish grade, and prepare the surface for seeding, hydroseeding, or sod. We leave a yard that's ready for your landscaper to work.
