Utility trenching the trades can count on.

Underground utility work requires precision, coordination, and the kind of operator experience that keeps you out of trouble with inspectors and neighboring utilities. RJL Contracting handles the excavation side so your plumber, electrician, or utility contractor can focus on the pipe and wire.

We call Dig Safe on every job, trench to the exact depths and grades your utility plan requires, and backfill and compact to spec. Whether it's a new water service to a house or a 500-foot run to a barn, we get it done clean.

Utility excavation, done right.

Dig Safe Coordination

We call Dig Safe (811) and wait for all utility markings before any machine hits the ground. This is not optional. We do it on every job, every time.

Trench Excavation

We trench to the depth, width, and grade specified by your utility plan and local code. We work around existing utilities with care and document conditions as we go.

Bedding and Installation Zone

We prepare the proper bedding material for the utility type, whether that's crushed stone for sewer, sand for water, or conduit-specific fill for electrical. Your utility contractor or plumber makes the connections.

Backfill and Compaction

We backfill in lifts and compact to the density required by your engineer or the town. No voids, no shortcuts. The trench won't settle and cause a problem six months from now.
